Atomic Structures and Defects in Advanced Materials (LASDAM)

Facilities and Services

Electron Microscopy

Electron microscopy instrumentation includes two analytical HRTEMs with complementary configurations and functionalities (JEM ARM200F and JEM 2100), one analytical SEM-FIB dual system (Tescan Lyra III XMU) and a laboratory for TEM/SEM samples preparation. Open access to these facilities is offered to external users by semesterly calls organized via CERIC-ERIC.

View Facilities

Electron Paramagnetic Resonance

EPR instrumentation includes four multifrequency EPR spectrometers operated in different working modes and temperature ranges: one pulse/cw X-band EPR spectrometer (Bruker ELEXSYS E580), one Q-band EPR spectrometer (Bruker ELEXSYS E500), one cw X-band EPR spectrometer (Bruker EMX plus) and one compact X-band EPR spectrometer (ADANI Systems CMS 8400). An automatic liquid He plant including a He recovery system has been installed for low-temperature measurements. Open access to these facilities is offered to external users by semesterly calls organized via CERIC-ERIC.

View Facilities

Thin films for optoelectronic applications

The lab includes a magnetron sputtering installation for thin-films deposition, with in situ AES, LEED and ellipsometry for growth characterization/monitoring, an RTA/RTO installation for rapid thermal annealing, oxidation and nitriding and measurement chains for electrical, ferroelectric and photoelectric characterization, Hall effect and magnetoresistance measurements.

View Facilities

Gas sensing

Laboratory for characterization and testing of advanced materials for gas sensors under controlled atmosphere (CO, CH4, NO2, H2S, NH3, SO2). The lab includes a gas mixing station and associated equipment for electrical measurements and testing of gas sensitive materials.

View Facilities

Nanomaterials synthesis

Laboratory for materials synthesis and processing by chemical (coprecipitation, hydrothermal, solid state reaction) and physical methods including autoclaves (high-pressure and low-pressure autoclaves), high-energy milling device, ovens, fume hoods.
