SUMMARY:
The project intends to design, create, characterize and test a novel class of magnetic materials capable to operate at high temperatures, having a large resistance to corrosion. This new class may be represented by exchange coupled nanocomposite magnets based on (Fe,Mn)(Pt,Al). Key issues that need to be solved is represented by the cost effectiveness and the optimization of the magnetic performances of the L10 hard magnetic phases with Mn and/or Al. These RE-free nanocomposite magnets will be compositionally modulated with the purpose of optimization of the magnetic performances. The pseudo-binary alloys FeMnPt and FeMnAl will be obtained by melt spinning, mechanical alloying and thin films. It is expected that replacing Pt with less costly elements will decrease the overall costs without a trade-off of the expected magnetic performances.

Main aim of the project is to design, create, characterize and test a novel class of magnetic materials based on L10 materials (Fe,Mn)(Pt,Al). The alloys will be compositionally modulated with the purpose of optimization of the magnetic performances.
