New gas sensing materials with working temperature close to or at room temperature

Project Director: Dr. Adam LŐRINCZI

OBJECTIVES OF THE PARTNERSHIP

The general objective (GO) of this project is to deliver a stand-alone demonstrator device operating at ambient temperature for the detection of three hydrocarbons: methane, propane and butane.

We aim a TRL level 4 as for our research entities (RES: P1, P2 or HE: P4, P5) raised to a level of TRL 6 by partners P3 and P6 (SMEs). This OG will naturally be supported by the following specific objectives (SOs), as given below:

SO-1: Development of new nanocomposites based on chalcogenide compounds and different metallo-porphyrins, sensitive at environmental temperature to two aliphatic hydrocarbon compositions. The gases concerned are propane and butane, the component gases of liquefied petroleum gas or LPG. We will study the selectivity and sensitivity of new nanocomposite materials depending on their composition.

SO-2: Transfer of laboratory technology to consortium’s SMEs to increase the TRL level from 4 to 5/6, thereby bringing new laboratory results closer to the market.

PARTNERSHIP PERIOD WITHIN THE PROJECT

The partnership period is 36 months, the same for all partners, as stated in the successful project proposal. The actual starting date may be different din the three countries of the consortium, in accordance with the availability of funds for each of the funding authorities. In Romania for partners P1, P2 and P3 the project start was May 1st 2024. In Turkey, for partners P5 and P6, the project started also after May 1st 2024. In Hungary for partner P4 the project will start as soon as funds are available.
