SUPERCONDUCTING QUANTUM INTERFERENCE MAGNETOMETER SQUID (QUANTUM DESIGN)
FACILITIES / CARACTERIZARI-ELECTRICE-SI-MAGNETICE
The Magnetic Properties Measurement System, QD-MPMS-XL-7AC, manufactured by Quantum Design (USA), employs the Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) technology, to achieve the state of art sensitivity and reproducibility of magnetic measurements (10-8 emu resolution in magnetic moment, maximum field of 7 T, 10-4 T resolution in the maximum field, temperature range from 2 K to 400 K, with a maximum stability of 10-3 K).
Characteristics:
– The following options are available: DC magnetometry, Reciprocal Space Option (RSO) and AC susceptbility
– Temperature range: from 2 K to 400 K for most options, with upper slope of 10K/min and minimum slope of 0.01K/min (increasing and decreasing ramp)
– DC applied magnetic field up to 7 T. Variable AC excitation magnetic fields up to 5 Oe and frequency ranging from 1Hz to 1kHz.
Applications:
The following types of determinations can be made: temperature dependent magnetizations under constant field, magnetization reversal and hysteresis loops with determination of magnetic parameters like remnant and saturation magnetization, coercive field, anisotropy field, values of magnetic moments), magnetic energy values (BH)max, magnetic ordering temperature (TC or TN), type of magnetic interactions, sensitive ZFC-FC protocols, temperature and field-frequency dependent AC susceptibility for accurate determination of magnetic moments, type of magnetic order and exchange interactions, blocking temperatures and anisotropy energy, exchange and dipolar interactions, exchange bias and exchange spring characteristics, critical parameters in superconducting materials, relaxation phenomena in magnetic and superconducting materials, etc.Copyright © 2024 National Institute of Materials Physics.
